Smart Asset Control - made in Germany.
One morning, a service technician is at your office door and wants to change the cartridge of your color copier while you don’t even know said cartridge will be empty in the next few days. As if by magic and depending on the season, street lamps are illuminated across whole cities in time for nightfall and extinguished when the morning breaks. How does that work? SIM cards are installed in every professional copier and in street lamps, as well as in millions of other assets, which communicate with a reception system via GPS and are able to receive or send signals to or from this system.
This technology proven a million times is being used to advantage in Satellite Guard and provides mobile assets with devices, which communicate with a reception machine using the same pattern:
While manufacturers of copiers and street lamps mentioned above firmly install SIM cards already during the production process into such equipment or, respectively, during the construction of systems or plants, mobile assets are not directly equipped with them by manufacturers but rather have to be “retrofitted” in order to ensure this kind of communication. To this end technical devices have been developed which, depending on the type of asset, can be installed and connected to the existing technical interfaces of the assets. The devices come equipped with a SIM card as well as specific programming and are sealed in a tamper-proof manner.

Connecting the device to a mobile asset enables it to send signals to a reception system – just like the stationary copier. The signals received are then processed using a rule engine with individual rules according to the specifications put forth by the financing institutions and investors, the insurers, proprietors or lessors of the assets. If one or more of these rules should not be complied with, appropriate measures for risk or damage reduction can be implemented immediately.
Of course, the signals can also be interpreted for end user connections in the areas of insurances, vehicle fleets and retail financing.
